Purdue Pharma in Lawsuit Regarding OxyContin Mis-Marketing
CBS News recently reported that Purdue Pharma, the drug company that is accused of mis-marketing and cashing in on the opioid epidemic, was considering and discussing privately the idea of breaking into the addiction treatment market. This clear sign of misguided and greedy disregard for their impact on the lives of patients across the United States is bringing the company’s owners, The Sackler family, under much scrutiny. The company owner, Kathy Sackler, is said to have been involved in “Project Tango” reported as a project meant to help Purdue establish addiction treatment options.
A Purdue representative allegedly blamed everyone but themselves for the marketing of OxyContin as “less addictive and dangerous than the other opioid medications,” while there is evidence of executives disregarding ample evidence of the drugs addictive, and deadly, properties. Attorney General Maura Healey, in an interview with a CBS News correspondent, said that the Sackler family “doesn’t want to accept blame for this.” (For more information click here.)
